A. Primary and these generally are considered benign and they include:
1. Migraine Headaches
2. Tension Headaches
3. Cluster Headaches
B. Secondary and these include more serious headaches. These are headaches that occur in patients with:
1. New onset of headaches
2. Recent head injury
3. Immunocompromised status
4. Worsening of existing headache
5. Sudden onset of new headache
6. Headaches that worsen with cough
7. Morning headache
8. Headache associated with seizures, confusion, new neurologic findings, and loss of consciousness
9. History of cancer, HIV, weight loss
Secondary headaches also may have :
1. Nausea, vomiting
2. Worsening of headache with sitting up
3. Worsening of headache with laying down
4. Loss of vision
5. Double vision
6. Difficulty with equilibrium
7. Blurring of vision
8. Visual field defect
