Ordering of Tests and Interpretation of Test Results
This duty entails the following:
- Understanding the basics of microbiology and the fundamental principles of basic laboratory testing procedures
- Ordering of specific tests based on patient examination and potential diagnosis
- Reading basic test results and determining if the results are normal or abnormal
- Disclosing test information to patient
- Taking results into account when determining a diagnosis for the patient
- Conducting one’s self in a polite and professional manner at all times with patients
