Clerkships

Clerkships starts with the first day of medical school. Here we start with universal precautions and students will learn about universal precautions before they enter a hospital or a clinic. This is followed with Emergency Care Training that prepares the students to get involved as a team member in emergency situations as the arise. This is followed by other procedures that they need to learn this year from obtaining a blood pressure to some of the procedures outlined below:

  1. Universal Precautions
  2. Emergency Care Training
  3. Vital Signs
  4. Venipuncture and starting IV lines
  5. History and Physical Examination

Family Medicine    8 Weeks

Internal Medicine     8 weeks
This includes all of the subspecialties of medicine except for rheumatology.

Musculoskeletal Medicine     8 Weeks
This includes Primary Care Dermatology, Orthopedic, Rheumatology, and Sports Medicine.

Emergency Medicine     4 weeks

Obstetrics and Gynecology      4 Weeks

Pediatrics     4 Weeks

Psychiatry     4 Weeks

Radiology    4 Weeks

Surgery      4 Weeks
This includes all of the subspecialties of Surgery except for Orthopedics.
