School of Specialized Medicine
The school of specialized medicine has been developed to train specialists in various fields of medicine where students start their specialty training from day one of their medical education and thus limiting the current training years for a specialist to more than half.
These students are trained by specialists in their respective fields and are expected to learn only the areas that are relevant to their specialty training instead of going thru the traditional college education, medical school, residency, and fellowship training.
We offer a comprehensive medical program for those who want to become a clinical specialist that consists of five essential blocks. Unlike the current medical education, students here will follow the more traditional medical education that uses an apprenticeship system.
Traditional apprenticeship system was how physicians used to be trained at the turn of the century. This is now needed now more than ever because:
- The recent rapid advances in medicine have made it difficult for even the specialist to keep up-to-date with the advances in their specialty.
- Many of the subjects that are taught during pre-medical and medical years of training have very little use for a clinician.
- Medical students do not get to care for real patients until their 7th year of training.
- The ever rising cost of medical education demands a change in the way physicians are trained.
- Physicians will have at most only two to three years of actual patient experience in their area of specialty upon graduation from residency or fellowship training.
- To become a physician simply takes too long. It should not take 11-13 years to become a doctor.
Our current specialty training program has the following advantages:
- Medical Students decide and focus on a specialty only from the first day of training.
- Students are involved in patient care in the mornings from the first day of their medical education and take their classes in the afternoon or online in the evenings.
- Only areas that are relevant to their specialty are taught during the pre-medical and medical training.
- Students will have seven years of specialty training experience in their specialty upon completion of our program compared to only two years with the current program.
- There are no fees for registration or tuition before, during, and after completion of these programs.
- It takes only 7 years to complete our specialty program compared to the 13 years with the current system.
The training years are expected to last between 5 to 7 years depending on the specialty. Completion of secondary school or high school education is required. Students are currently being admitted to specialty areas of Cardiology and Rheumatology. To apply please visit the Admission page.
